About the project

“Resourcing Libraries: Connecting libraries to EU resources” (RL:EU) is a project co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union under the Partnerships for Cooperation in Adult Education (KA220) which ran from September 2022 to November 2024, aiming to help Europe’s public libraries unlock EU resources to support their adult education programmes and strategies. As public libraries are the first port of call for many adult learners, RL:EU aimed to help develop libraries’ capacities to be forward-looking adult education learning centres.  In this project, Public Libraries 2030 partnered with EBLIDA, and PiNA to develop an approach that helps public libraries and librarians learn about EU initiatives and programmes and access EU funding.

Concretely, the project has:

  • Compiled a platform with best practices and support to find project partners and develop European projects
  • Developed a train-the-trainer methodology enabling librarians to train other librarians on EU programmes and initiatives and EU-funded projects: this includes a webinar series on EU resources and project design for libraries, as well as one-to-one mentoring, and group coaching sessions.
  • Published a workbook providing a step-by-step guide into designing and implementing an EU project
  • Hosted local information events on EU programmes in 10+ European countries (both online and in person)
  • Organised a European conference on Digital Upskilling in Libraries in Lisbon in April 2024
  • Developed and published policy recommendations for EU funding of public libraries

Public Libraries 2030 led on the project management and communications for the project as well as support the project’s implementation activities.
