I believe a public library is the most democratic place a community has. It asks nothing of you: not your income, your background, your beliefs or your reason for walking in. It is a public good, held in trust for everyone, and that is a responsibility I carry every day. I also believe in work. Trust is not built with words but with what gets done, together with colleagues, with users and with the community that shapes the library alongside us.
