Muntpunt Brussels, Belgium
Public Libraries are tomorrow's town square, church, school and community centre all rolled into one. They are the platform where creative energy flows freely and ideas, people, and partners connect to learn and create solutions for a better society.
Muntpunt, formed in 2011 is the Flemish Metropolitan Public Library in Brussels, the capital of Belgium and of course the political capital of Europe. Brussels is the youngest and most cultural diverse city of Belgium. It’s a city shaped by multilingualism, social challenges around inequality, education, housing and participation. Muntpunt is literally at hart of the (city) centre and our mission is unequivocally connected to all these social challenges. Muntpunt is an open house and is part of a library network of 19 Dutch speaking Public Libraries in Brussels and has, besides it´s role as a Public Library, several other core assignments. Muntpunt has a formal role in information to the broader public about living, participating and education in Dutch speaking networks of Brussels.
